Pick the book
Each month we choose one well-loved book — a mix of biography, story, and ideas. As a member, you get a say in the next pick.
One book a month · Zero pressure
The Midnight Chapter is a cozy online book club for busy adults who keep meaning to read more — and never quite get around to it. One good book each month, read entirely at your own pace, and a warm live chat to talk about it.
How it works
Each month we choose one well-loved book — a mix of biography, story, and ideas. As a member, you get a say in the next pick.
Chapters, commute listens, or weekend marathons — it's up to you. No reading schedules, no homework, no guilt.
On the last Sunday of the month we meet online for an easy, spoiler-friendly conversation with questions sent in advance.
Now reading
Based on more than forty interviews with Jobs and hundreds with family, friends, and colleagues, Walter Isaacson's biography is the defining portrait of a visionary, a perfectionist, and one of the most creative entrepreneurs of our time. Expect sharp opinions, a few impossible standards — and plenty to talk about.

Frequently asked questions
One book a month, read at your own pace — that's the whole commitment. Most of our picks take about 10–15 minutes a day on a commuting pace, and there are absolutely no quizzes, homework, or schedules to keep up with. The monthly chat is 60–75 minutes, and you're welcome to listen in even if you haven't finished the book.
Every last Sunday of the month we meet over a live video call — camera optional, coffee encouraged. A week before, you'll get a short discussion guide with a handful of thoughtful questions, so nobody is ever put on the spot. If you can't make it live, a recording and the conversation notes are shared in the members' space the next morning.
No pressure, ever. Fall behind and you simply catch up when you can — the chat is spoiler-friendly, and members happily steer around mid-book readers. Skip a whole month? That's completely fine too. The club is a habit you can lean on, not another obligation; you can participate as little or as much as life allows.
